Why am I seeking this position?
“My goal is to create a culture of accountability in the office that will instill pride and confidence throughout our community.”
My motivation to run for the District Clerk position came from the culmination of information that we have all heard about from this office over the last two years.
Disturbing accusations of incompetence; petitions for removal; and our courts, judges, and jurors being effected in a negative manner.
In January of 2024, jurors did not show up to the capitol murder trial of our San Marcos hero Officer Copeland. As a consequence, the county scrambled to deliver 1000 jury summons by hand. This was unacceptable.
When the District Clerk resigned, I knew that I could help triage the problems associated with the office, and provide the leadership that has been lacking for so long. My 30 years of diverse leadership experience in both the private and public sectors will be instrumental in helping the office move forward in a positive manner.
Time spent in this position will allow me to create processes, procedures, and systems for the office that will supplement the District Clerks Manual. This will help prevent future turmoil. The inevitable successor of this position, whether Democrat, or Republican, would then have the tools necessary to be successful on day-one.
Hays County has blessed myself and my family for many years. I am participating is this local election to give back, and do my part.
